Terrarium Care Guide 🌱

Terrarium Care Guide 🌱

A quick, no-fuss way to keep your tiny world happy.

Closed Terrariums 🌿

(Your mini rainforest)

Light ☀️

  • Bright-but-indirect light.
  • Avoid direct sun – it’ll cook your plants faster than a forgotten pizza.

Water 💧

  • Rarely needs watering.
  • Watch for signs:
    • Too much: heavy condensation, soggy soil. Crack the lid for a day.
    • Too little: no condensation at all. Add a tiny splash.

Temperature 🌡️

  • Room temperature is perfect.
  • Keep away from radiators, fireplaces, and other heat traps.

Pruning ✂️

  • Trim anything touching the glass.
  • Remove dead leaves to keep mould from gate-crashing.

Cleaning the Glass 🧼

  • Wipe the outside.
  • Inside stays untouched unless absolutely needed.

Open Terrariums 🍃

(Your desert, jungle, or houseplant micro-garden)

Light ☀️

  • Likes brighter conditions than closed terrariums.
  • Avoid harsh direct sun unless it’s a succulent or cactus mix.

Water 💦

  • Needs more than a closed terrarium, but still easy does it.
  • Quick guide:
    • Tropicals: water lightly when the top looks dry.
    • Succulents/cacti: water sparingly – a sip, not a bath.

Airflow 🌬️

  • Plenty of natural airflow, so it dries faster.
  • Perfect for plants that hate humidity.

Pruning 🌿✂️

  • Trim back anything leggy or messy.
  • Remove fallen leaves to prevent fungus.

Quick Weekly Checks 🔍

  • Plants upright and looking lively?
  • Soil too wet or too dry?
  • Any mould trying its luck?
  • Leaves touching the glass?

When Things Go Wrong 😬

  • Mould: remove it, boost airflow, water less.
  • Fogged-up closed terrarium: lid off for a few hours.
  • Droopy plants: usually underwatering or too much sun.
  • Yellowing leaves: often overwatering.

Final Notes 🌈

Give your terrarium a little attention, not a full interrogation. Keep it comfy, keep it simple, and it’ll reward you with a tiny world that stays green and gorgeous.
